Juniata County Food Pantry thanks community

To the Editor:

Thank you for providing this forum for communication.

As 2024 begins, I would be remiss to not express gratitude to the Juniata County community for its generous and continuing support of the Juniata County Food Pantry throughout 2023. As our needs increased, so did your support!

A few facts about 2023 will emphasize the impact of this community:

· 544 different households were served. (an increase of 194 from 2022)

· 2,846 visits to the pantry were tallied. (an increase of 637 from 2022)

· 194 Thanksgiving meals were distributed. (Thank you to the Kiwanis Club and the EMS site for your partnership.)

· 316 Christmas meals were distributed from the food pantry in addition to monthly groceries.

· 143 children received Christmas gifts at the food pantry during their parents' monthly visit. (Thank you to Matamoras United Methodist Church, Trinity Tots Preschool, and East Salem Community Church for your continuing annual support of this project.)

· 172 students received backpacks and school supplies to begin the school year.

Our pantry's mission, to "feed my sheep" from John 21:15, is made possible through the compassion and benevolence of the Juniata County community. Without you, the above-mentioned facts would not be authentic. Thank you to every donor, individual, church, organization, and business! And thank you to the many volunteers who allow the food pantry to serve the community. Working together, we are able to share a blessing with many of those in need.

If you have questions or interest in the work of the Juniata County Food Pantry, please feel free to contact us at (717) 436-9718. Leave a message. You will receive a return call. New volunteers are always welcome to join us! Donations can be mailed to the Juniata County Food Pantry at P.O. Box 44, Mifflintown, PA 17059.

Again, thank you to this charitable community that reminds us that The Golden Rule is alive and well in Juniata County!

Most sincerely,

Patricia E. Brown, Treasurer
