Healing our nation after chaos
To the Editor:
We have seen our spiritual decline from 67% attending church regularly in 1960 to 30% today. We have experienced BLM, Planned Parenthood, defund police, abortion, transgenders in women's sports and recently Pro-Palestinian demonstrations that have divided this great nation of ours. We have seen our history questioned, our justice system weaponized, hate growing exponentially, corruption/bribery/deceit/blatant lies/moral decline accepted, and an alarming national debt due to wasteful spending and shoring up our enemies like Iran. With the presidential election of 2024, will we bring this nation back to greatness or tear it apart with disorder/riots or possible civil war?
General Douglas MacArthur, Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in the Pacific during World War II, said this in December 1951:
"In this day of gathering storms, as moral deterioration of political power spreads its growing infection, it is essential that every spiritual force be mobilized to defend and preserve the religious base upon which this nation is founded; for it has been that base which has been the motivating impulse to our moral and national growth. History fails to record a single precedent in which nations subject to moral decay have not passed into political and economic decline. There has been either a spiritual reawakening to overcome the moral lapse or a progressive deterioration leading to ultimate national disaster." Please read this again.
2 Chronicles 7:14 -- "If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
With the approaching holiday season, will we make time for God, who always makes time for us? Will we heed MacArthur's words / warning and God's promise, or will we continue our progressive deterioration leading to ultimate national disaster? It's your choice.
