Thank you to those who made Day of Caring a success
To the Editor:
Thank you to everyone that made the 26th Day of Caring a success!
United Way of Mifflin-Juniata kicked off the 2024 annual fundraising campaign with the 26th Annual Day of Caring on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023. Approximately 508 volunteers spent the day painting, landscaping, building and cleaning. This year's effort helped 43 different non-profit agencies and government entities throughout Mifflin and Juniata Counties save over $60,000!
The assistance that agencies receive through Day of Caring is critical. For the volunteer, the experience was uplifting. By giving people the chance to be directly involved, they come away with a great sense of accomplishment because they know they've helped a neighbor. Helping one another is what makes our community strong.
Special thanks to the sponsors who donated products, services and funding. Our Contractor sponsor was First Energy Foundation, Jackhammer club sponsors were JVB and Lowe's Home Improvement Center Lewistown. Included in the Sledge Hammer Club were Century 21 Above and Beyond, MCS Bank, Philips, Sanitation Solutions Plus LLC, Marcal Paper, UGI Utilities, In-Home Services. Carpenter Club contributors were FoxPro Inc., Lerch RV, Pennian Bank, Blaise Alexander Subaru of Lewistown. Food sponsors were: Dunkin' Donuts, Rich Coast Coffee and Lewistown Paper. We also want to thank the Kiwanis Club for their wonderful breakfast in Mifflin County and the Mifflintown Lions Club for the delicious breakfast in Juniata County. Both locations were able to start the morning with good food and fellowship.
We also couldn't be successful with this day without the support of the media: The Lewistown Sentinel, County Observer, Juniata Sentinel, Times, STAR Country, WCHX radio, and the kind support from MERF radio who attends the MC breakfast at Kish Park for interviews and great music, thank you to Julie O'Conner for her assistance with photography.
