The writing is on the wall for public schools
To the Editor:
It's only a matter of time before public school administrative consolidation is mandated by the State Education Department if the local public-school districts haven't done it on their own.
There used to be 14 public state colleges in Pennsylvania; today there are only 10. That's because three state universities in Central Pennsylvania and three state universities in Western Pennsylvania consolidated administratively into one. In case you didn't know it, Bloomsburg University, Lock-Haven University and Mansfield University are now one administratively.
Recently, three public school districts in Wilkes-Barre combined into one school district. It's only a matter of time until more public schools are consolidated, if only administratively, into one.
The handwriting is on the wall!
