For clarity: Setting the record straight

To the Editor:

For those who don't understand the "Russia hoax." The investigation into Trump's Russian involvement in 2015 of the coming 2016 election was based on a FISA Court issued warrant. The evidence to issue the warrant was based on a letter manufactured by the Clinton campaign and supported by the FBI who knew it was false. Therefore, the millions spent on Trump's impeachment was based on a liberal lie and Adam Schiff's whistleblower who was never named, never appeared and never testified! Ergo entirely a "hoax!"

I like the word fairytale in place of hoax because it exemplifies the deranged reality employed by many liberals. If you are still in doubt, read the "Durham Report" on this subject.

After being lied to by the justice department and the FBI, is it any wonder conservatives don't trust any indictment based on Trump hating liberal exaggerations. All the while IRS whistleblowers have testified how bank records and deferred IRS indictments implicate the justice department of protecting the Biden family. This is all ignored by the liberal major media! You can't make this stuff up! You can choose to ignore it!

Rebuttal for new talking point in Ukraine conflict

To the Editor:

Rachel Marsden's opinion article Sept. 7, tells of the US and NATO wrongly encouraging Ukraine to fight a war with Russia. She is supposed to be a Canadian conservative.

Her article ignores the fact that Putin wants to restore the glory of the Soviet Union. His words, "its collapse was the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century." In a speech, he compared himself to Peter the Great on his efforts reestablishing Russia's greatness.

Make no mistake, Putin is an evil monster. He is the reason for a war in Ukraine. Military casualties now are approximately 300,000 Russian and 200,000 Ukrainian, and where does it end?

The Soviet Union was our greatest foe and threat since the end of WW2. Since the breakup of the Soviet Union, China has taken their place. But, Russia is still a threat and has the world's most nuclear weapons. Weapons Putin has threatened to use since his invasion. Their demise and breakup were celebrated all around the world. The end of the Cold War, less risks of a hot war.

As Ms. Marsden points out many in the US government are thrilled a revived Russia, (by oil money), is being weakened by their terrible war against Ukraine. Ukraine made the decision to fight Russia rather than submit to Russian rule. Indeed after Russia invaded, we expected Kiev to fall in days. When the US offered to help him evacuate, President Zelenskyy said, "The fight is here. I don't need a ride, I need ammunition."

So, whether to fight is Ukraine's call to make. Since the invasion began, Russians committed all sorts of war crimes, tortured civilians and raped women, bombed hospitals, maternity clinics, schools, shopping areas, apartment buildings.

She points out, 2014 NATO began pushing Ukraine to provoking conflict with Russia. Actually, NATO was watching Putin's aggression after he annexed Crimea. Then, after his invasion they began to supply arms to Ukraine to prevent him from capturing it and moving on to his next target.

Actually, NATO made the call to try and avoid buying anything Russian including oil and gas. That call was not made by "big oil." She is ignorant if she believes that. The world's supply of oil price is dedicated to supply and demand. Europe hurt themselves by not wanting to buy Russian energy, but India and China were more than happy to buy it at discount rates; a lot of it is still in the world supply. The whole world is affected by Putin's unjust war. Oil and energy flows have been disrupted. Products such as wheat and fertilizers are in shorter supply, which will lead to food shortages particularly in challenged places like Africa. Recently India banned all rice exports because of risks to supply. Normally they export a lot.

Her last paragraph is Putin propaganda crap nonsense. To summarize, big winners got Ukraine to do Washington's dirty work, rather than seeking peace.

Probably, the world's greatest desire is for peace. Ukraine does. Ukraine put forth a list of conditions to Putin, first thing, get out of Ukraine, stop the invasion, stop the war. Putin has no desire to stop. He cares nothing about cost or lives. Putin is hoping for countries to tire of helping Ukraine which could happen. In the meantime, Russia continues to slowly weaken, and Ukraine makes slow advances. F-16 fighter jets will be donated to them in a few months. Pilots are being trained on them now.

Ms. Marsden made a try at pushing Putin's lies. Do not be fooled. If she really wanted peace she would tell her buddy Putin to GET OUT OF UKRAINE.

Rebuttal to letter from MAGA crowd

To the Editor:

This is in response to Mr. Seller's letter published on Sept. 9, 2023. When I see someone use the words "Make America Great Again," I have to ask, when was America great. Do they mean when slavery was a common thing? Do they mean when the poor were kicked out on the streets? Do they mean when Native American tribes were slaughtered for their land just so that white settlers could take it? Do they mean back in the '50s when women were treated as property? What do they mean "Make America Great Again" – was it ever great in the first place especially when you look at how historically minorities were badly treated? To me, and I am sure many others in this country, if people like Mr. Sellers could actually explain what they mean by using the phrase "Make America Great Again" it would help a lot in making decisions about the type of person or group they are.
