No one is above the law
To the Editor:
Donald Trump is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. He has been indicted four times and charged with 91 felony counts. I believe most people will accept the verdict - guilty or not guilty - if the process is fair. Already the right is screaming that Trump has been unfairly treated.
Is this merely a weaponization of the Department of Justice by the wily democrats to interfere with the 2024 election and prevent Trump from winning the White House? Is this merely a partisan attack by democratic prosecutors? Does this mean that democrat Fani Willis, prosecutor in Fulton County Georgia, who charged Trump on RICO charges can only investigate law breakers who are democrats. That makes no sense. It would be difficult for a prosecutor to overlook Trump's "perfect call" in which he asked Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger to "find me 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have, because we won the state," and this was after Trump threaten him with criminality because Raffensperger told him his information was wrong.
Fani Willis served as lead prosecutor in a 2015 trial of 12 educators in a cheating scandal on RICO charges. Eleven were found guilty. She also went after a rapper named Young Thug on RICO charges. He is still in jail. She is not to be underestimated.
I do not know if special counsel Jack Smith, who also has indicted Trump, is a democrat or a republican nor do I care. I want him to follow the law. Prior to this assignment, he was chief prosecutor for the special court at the Hague where he investigated war crimes committed during the war in Kosovo. He also prosecuted democratic presidential candidate John Edwards in 2008 for campaign finance violations.
The evidence in these trials will not come from democrats, but from republicans – lawyers, campaign aides, and state and federal election officials. It will be republicans testifying under oath.
The right will contend that Hunter Biden is getting special treatment, but it was President Trump's DOJ that appointed prosecutor David Weiss in 2018 to investigate alleged violations by Hunter Biden. When President Biden took office, he kept Weiss on to continue his investigation, which continues to this day.
It is in the national interest that all the trials be televised. Will MAGA supporters even watch them? I doubt it. I think they would rather not know.
No one is above the law, not even a former president of the United States.

Prayer serves Lord
To the Editor:
Prayer is a very important responsibility for us as we strive to serve and reverence our God. Prayer is our way of communicating to God, as we raise our voices to Him, we need to know what prayer should be. Prayer should be a personal time between us and God. (Matt.7:6).
Prayer should be a time of expressing reverence, praise and exaltation to God. A time of thankfulness, of confession and of making our request known unto Him (Matt.7:7-9; Phil.4:6).
God always answers prayer according to His purpose and will, for his glory and our good and in His time. When we pray, we need to do so according to His will which we can know by reading and studying His word. (1Jn.3:22).
Sometimes when we pray God says yes and we receive our request, sometimes He says no for different reasons, such as when we fail to pray according to His will (1Jn.5:14-15) or we "ask amiss" (Ja.4:3) making our requests for the wrong reason and purpose, or because what we have asked may harm us spiritually, sometimes He says no because He has another purpose or plan for our lives which is different to our request (1Sam.7:1-3).
So, whether the answer is yes or no we need to make our requests be known unto Him (Phil.4:6) and be willing to accept His will for our lives as we serve him.
