"Stop Complaining"

A reply to Mr. Fisher's July 19th submission to the Editor about the working poor.

If the working poor in America have it so rough, why do poor people from all over the world want to come here? They risk life and limb to get here. You may say they are escaping repression and seeking asylum. That may have some bearing on it in some cases, but there are over 200 countries on earth. Why put so much effort on getting to America?

It is simple. Because America treats their poor better than most and we are the land of opportunity! Very few Americans start at the top. Most start at the bottom and "work" their way to a better life. Rich people, many who themselves came from the bottom, provide entry level jobs, so the poor can advance in life. Even the middle class jobs that pay well are from the efforts of the rich. Without them, there would be no well paying jobs for you to better yourself. Asking the government to help you more solves nothing. Taking more from those who provide jobs and giving it to bureaucrats to give it to those who don't work is a recipe for failure.

Not every person has the ability to work. They are taken care of with SSI disability, charities and civic programs. Some abuse these systems and complain the most. Others make poor decisions with drugs, alcohol or have trouble working around other people. Whatever the reason, complaining will never advance your desire!

You should be thankful someone worked hard so you, and millions like you, could be employed. The working rich should be thanked and should be rewarded! No one ever achieved their goals or improved their life by complaining!
