To the Editor:

My 50-year-old nature club, Towpath Naturalist Society, quietly visits Old Crow Wetlands on field trips to witness interesting birds (both familiar and rare). What a peaceful and serene spot it is! How peaceful will another Rutter's be?

Old Crow was established by law as a result of another business locating nearby. It was required to protect a small part of our wetlands that are rapidly vanishing. Does anyone care? Maybe not until all the wetlands are gone!

Remember "Silent Spring?" That book was instrumental in alerting everyone to the dire situation and bringing back our American Bald Eagle -- WOW!

Old Crow is a small, serene patch of nature where people can rest, relieve their anxiety, and relax surrounded by Mother Nature's plants and creatures. Now you want to destroy this little oasis and add one more commercial business and parking lot! Old Crow is supposed to be "protected." Let's protect it!
