To The Editor:
I keep hearing the administration pushing "Man Caused Climate Change" and EV'S (electric vehicles) along with their predictions of worldwide doom. I have some practical facts for everyone to consider:
They keep saying that the oceans are going to rise catastrophically in ten years or less if we don't make ourselves miserable with drastic changes to the way we live. I remind you that the doomsayers were predicting that it would happen in twenty years, that the Statue of Liberty would be nearly underwater, and that was twenty years ago. The statue of Liberty is the same as it was twenty years ago.
If their predictions were really something to worry about, would so many wealthy people, including the Obama's be buying oceanside property, and would banks be lending them the money to buy this expensive property if they really thought that it would be under water in ten or so years? Think about it! Is it really something to worry about or is it a way to control people with fear and get them to lower their standard of living while the wealthy get richer by investing in all this Green New Deal business; financed by the government? That is to say your taxes.
You know I have written letters expressing my views on EV's and the pollution caused by their manufacture and the batteries that make them run.
I have made many trips out west and once to Newfoundland to hunt. As I understand it, it takes 15 to 20 minutes to get a full charge on a full size EV pickup truck after it is plugged into a charging station. I can fill the tank on my truck in 5 minutes. There have been times when I have had to wait while someone else filled their tank. We will say another 5 minutes. That is ten minutes total. If the same thing happens with an EV, that could be a total of 40 minutes; that is a difference of at least 30 minutes. The average speed limit on most interstate highways is 70 mph. I have been on highways where the speed limit is 75 or even 80 mph. That means I can travel at least 35 to 45 extra miles for every pitstop. Think about that! On a long trip, that starts to add up.
