Twisting facts makes you look foolish
To the Editor:
This is in response to Mr. Brittain's letter published on March 17, 2023. Mr. Brittain made some claims about what I stated in a previous letter that were factually untrue. In my previous letter, I stated that the Bible and other religious texts all teach the same love and tolerance. Please note the word 'other' and not 'all.' He claimed I espoused the teachings of all religions. Mr. Brittain is again incorrect about the meaning of that line when he claimed that "in effect, that if The Sentinel published other religious views e.g. those of Jews, Buddhists and so on that it would prove my point. Wrong. If other viewpoints were printed from other religions, we would actually have a more inclusive viewpoint of the world and not just the ethnocentric viewpoint of people who blindly follow Christianity. For example, out of all the world's religions, only one makes the claim that life begins at conception and that is Christianity. All others state that life begins at first breath. So with that in mind, don't you think that all these states that are bringing draconian anti-abortion laws are actually going against the freedom of religion of some of the people that may need or want an abortion? Or is it just a case of ignorance about what other people's religion say? That is just one way Christians ignore the rights of other religions, by forcing their viewpoint on non-Christians and atheists. Are Christians that xenophobic that when it comes to other religions and viewpoints that the blinders go on so that Christians suddenly develop tunnel vision? Before anybody makes the claim about Christianity being right and all other religions wrong, let me point something out – the historical Jesus was actually born to Jewish parents making Christianity, in all reality, an offshoot of the Jewish faith. Also, may I point out that most, if not all, Christian holidays were stolen from other faiths; for example, Easter was stolen from the pagan festival of spring which had pagans giving offerings to Esther, the pagan goddess of fertility. It was stolen to convert pagans to Christianity. That is just one example, there are many others, too many to mention. Another thing Mr. Brittain stated that I claimed that there was "universal religious rights for LGBT rights" when, in fact, I did not. It seems that, as per usual, Christian conservatives are twisting people's words and getting them printed. When you get a letter published, make sure that you actually get your facts correct and don't twist people's words. That only makes you look like a fool.

Neutral journalism is needed
To Mr Becht's letter published on March 21, fair is fair, but is it equal? Does it even matter in the twisted universe that is our political system?
Either side of our two party system can invoke the verse "let he who is without sin, let him cast the first stone." Your sanctimonious dribble is hilarious.
The destructive Trump crusade continues! If Stormy's payment was so important it would have been addressed years ago. Alas....there were bigger fish to fry at impeachments and Russian collusion. Now comes the lesser crimes when the big ones fail. Please! The Democrats need to concentrate on governing, not those who govern.
I'll say it again. I wish Trump would go away. Not because he is not qualified or dignified, but just to get the Democrats to shut up about him. The redundancy of the WITCH HUNT is boring me to tears and it does nothing but hurt our political system's credibility and ability to govern what is important.
When the liberal media is more interested in the relationship between a porn star and a former president than the FBI's relationship with Democrats to control free speech via Twitter, we have a serious problem. Not to mention turning a blind eye to Hunter's laptop. Can you imagine any Republican politician's child in the same position?
This country needs to get back to neutral journalism and governance for the people, not politicians.
