Thriving on panic
A reply to Mr. Gill's March 11 letter. I will reply without bringing religion into this conversation.
Earth is changing as it has for some six billion years. The unbiased evidence is conclusive! Earth is warming. Not at a cataclysmic rate, but slowly. Get over it! In 500 or 1,000 years the corn belt may be in Greenland. Man will adapt and survive. Fortunes will be won and lost in the transition. Right now we are being duped so fortunes can be made in the Green New Deal! The studies and evidence the left promotes is gleaned from reports paid for by the very people who will profit from them!
I don't understand your holier-than-thou attitude of Jan. 6, after America was wrecked by Democratic liberal forces who burned and looted cities with 25 murders in the summer of 2020! Just think they could have stayed home, obeyed the law and wrote love letters to Pelosi, Schumer and Schiff!
Why did you have to call people brown at the border? That was a racist statement. People from across the world are crossing that border. Forget the color, they are people! Hardly anyone is against legal immigration. It is people crossing illegally that most are opposed to. Not to mention the drugs that are killing people across America. In one year more drug deaths than 10 years in Vietnam! Thank A Democrat President and VP for that!
I don't know where you went to school, but I learned about slavery in grade school. I learned it was bad. I lived through the civil rights movement until the bill was passed. No one in America could avoid not hearing or seeing those events. It changed America. I was never told I was an oppressor, I felt it, when I saw children escorted to school by the National Guard! Spare me the CRT indoctrination of self loathing today! If you didn't learn the lessons when they happened and didn't teach your children, don't try to force feed your failures on others!
Anyone can live any lifestyle they choose. Just don't expect me to play the head games associated with the LGBTQ movement. You cannot change a person's biology. Men cannot give birth! There are two sexes and two genders. You may indulge these fantasies, I cannot.
So if you're a rat willing to blindly follow the piper (government) to destruction, you might just as well hand over your checkbook to him. He will need all of your money to complete his quest and control every aspect of your life!
To quote Ayn Rand, "Self-esteem is reliance on one's power to think. It cannot be replaced by one's power to deceive. The self-confidence of a scientist and the self-confidence of a con man are not interchangeable states, and do not come from the same psychological universe. The success of a man who deals with reality augments his self-confidence. The success of a con man augments his panic."
The liberal press who supports the green new deal and all who support liberal issues thrive on panic!

Writer missed the mark with religious claims
Mr. George Fisher, in his letter of March 14, takes some Christians to task for converting Indians to their religion, in that it violated their freedom of religion. Well, I'm not sure that the Constitution was in effect when all those pioneer Catholics were putting the arm on the Indians, but that's not the point of his letter. He objects to people who espouse Christianity but don't accept LGBT views because, as he says, "the Bible and other religious texts … all teach the same thing, tolerance and love." He later says, in effect, that if The Sentinel published other religious views, e.g., those of Jews, Buddhists, Muslims and Satanists, that would prove his point.
The Old Testament of the Jews and the Koran of the Muslims both declare homosexuality to be a crime; Buddhist are apparently tolerant of anything in this area and Satanists seem to be strongly in favor of LGBT rights, which is interesting. Christians, who belong to the largest religion in the world, unsurprisingly have different views. After all, Jesus preached humility, which in effect says, "Don't think you have all the answers."
So, Mr. Fisher is a little off the mark when he claims universal religious support for LGBT rights. And, when he calls for tolerance, I would ask, "tolerance for what?" Unqualified tolerance can lead to the collapse of civilized behavior.
