It's time to step up
Legacy. It's a heavy word. It's what others will think, feel and believe about us after we are gone. A person's legacy speaks to how they invested their time in this one short life. Once one reaches 60s, Legacy becomes the priority…more years behind than ahead. "Your life is like the morning fog--it's here a little while, then it's gone." I'm not interested in squandering this life…What say you? How can we each, today and all days forward, ensure life matters to this generation and beyond?
Remember, Lewistown Borough is not simply a space for the state to absorb land for the county prison, where those in State College come to obtain drugs. In this space, those investors profit off the backs of the poor, disabled, and elderly living off of Social Security alone, as their manual labor jobs did nothing more than provide a week-to-week paycheck with no extra to save.
The municipality has the $9 million to provide funds to Lewistown to ensure the youth of this town have an alternative and ensure those released to the streets from the county jail have a one-way ticket to exit this town. No one in this town, county, or state employs a felon or sex offender, yet the county and absentee landlords in Lewistown are filling this town with all of that. Time for the county to step up.
