Thoughts on the
death penalty
When Gov. Shapiro was sworn into office, he put his left hand on a Bible and raised his right to take the oath. That was good. But does he read and know what's inside the Bible? Does he believe the Bible?
As I listened to the news this past week, I got the impression that our governor does not read the Bible. He wants to do away with the death penalty for those persons that have killed another person. This is wrong. First in Exodus 20:13 (The Ten Commandments) it says "You should not murder." In Leviticus 24:17, it reads this command from God, "If anyone takes the life of a human being, he MUST be put to death."
The country started with people believing in the Bible and laws of the land were taken from it and also the punishments. It would be good for the government people and our elected representatives to read their Bibles and do what God commands, not what a few people think they want.
