Things to know when running for office
To the editor:
More specifically this letter is addressed to the residents of Granville Township. I am serving my 18th and final year as Granville Township supervisor. I made the decision six years ago not to seek a fourth term if elected a third term. I do not know who may or may not be interested in seeking this position. I can share some mostly financial information I feel is pertinent to the position if you care to contact me.
We can discuss some of the economics of the township which should prove beneficial. We have three fire companies which while they share some common problems, each has some individual problems. Two of our fire companies are investigating the possibility of a merger.
Some people say this position only involves one meeting a month. Personally, I usually stop by the office at least once a week. Our one other supervisor stops by on a more frequent basis. At times you will have special meetings and you may have other commitments as a supervisor. This is a part time position, which if you serve as I feel you should, you will be a public servant not a politician.
The township has lost some very good employees over the past several years either due to retirement or moving on to a more responsible position. However, we still have good employees. Listen to our paid staff and other supervisors to make informed decisions. Good luck to the new supervisor.
