It makes good sense

When Northumberland and Sunbury consolidated their two schools into the present Shikellamy School District many years ago, taxpayers in both communities benefited by knowing that their tax dollars were paying for only one administrative unit, one cafeteria and coaching staff, one professional and maintenance staff, one secretarial staff, etc and governed by one elected school board.
Tax payers also benefited by knowing that their school tax rates would be the same in both communities and that salaried and wage employees had pay scales that were also the same in both communities.
Yes, there are some disadvantages to school consolidation, extra transportation might be one, but if that extra transportation is used to establish educational specialized learning centers for intensive study in subjects such as agriculture, art, business, history, math, music, science, technology, etc, then it is also a good reason for joining schools together.
Recently, three Wilkes-Barre city schools combined to form one school district, and then it built a large modern facility to house many of its students. Today, that new district is operated as one administrative unit.
Consolidation of school districts into one (county) administrative unit is a good idea and it makes good sense!
