What is Going On?

To the Editor:

What is going on in Washington DC? First, the red wave is not a wave but a small splash. Second, the remains of what had been what I thought was a cohesive Conservative party has become splintered. My concern for conservative objectives has been shaken. As a Gallup poll member, I have expressed my disappointment. This has been verified by recent poll results on President Biden who is at a 40% approval rating up from 38%.

One thing is for sure, a party consensus is required to accomplish the reversal of the insane policies of the Biden administration. This past week conservative infighting has peeled back some of the mechanical workings of the Speaker of the House of Representatives. A powerful position seemingly diminished by the stratified conservative members.

All is not lost. President Biden's sudden interest in the southern border is telling! Revelations about Covid and the effectiveness of masks and vaccines will explain how we were all lied to. Speaking of lies, recent howls about Republican George Santos are disturbing. I feel the same way about Joe Biden setting the example of this behavior via his plagiarism of speeches, number of degrees he had, and his class rank. These lies are just as deplorable but have no standing with Democrats. This speaks volumes about the ethics and hypocrisy of those pointing fingers!

I hope the new 86,000 IRS agents can be axed but the Senate will most likely shoot this down as they will do most common sense legislation.

The disappointment in all this will be no conservative power to affect change via legislation! The Senate will block most common sense ideas for changes in the law and budget.

This same unwillingness to accept common sense ideas is visible at our grassroots level as well. As Adlai Stevenson once said, "I offer my opponents a bargain: if they will stop telling lies about us, I will stop telling the truth about them."
