We are resilient, amid changes
To the editor:
Read the front page headline in Tuesday's Sentinel, "Holiday Sales Up 7.6% Despite Inflation Squeeze." Looks like good news until you read the article to the end. Inflation is down to 7% from 9%. That is a move in the right direction, but a far cry from the 2 to 2.5% pre-pandemic rates. We are buying store brands instead of name brands and changing our buying habits in order to adjust. We really are resilient. We really can adjust to more than we know. Do we really want to? Are these changes and sacrifices worth or equal to the reward?
Hold up! Wait a minute! What reward? Why are we paying more and what are we sacrificing for? We all have our own ideas on the reasons, good, bad or otherwise for inflation. Is this all necessary or is it manufactured to control us?
I can relate this all to how to catch wild pigs. Just pile some corn in the forest (stimulus money and social programs). Do this for a while and erect one side of a fence. (some government regulations) Continue to feed the pigs. After a while add more parts of the fence until all you need is a gate to enclose the pigs. When greed hungry pigs have grown used to the fence (free money and regulations) they willingly file into the trap and the government closes the gate!
My, my what do we have here? A population that is under complete control of the government. Not my idea of a free society. Look around another $1.7 TRILLION in spending just passed Congress without review or debate! Democrats (in control of the fence) kicked the Budget can down the road from September until the day before Christmas and then exclaimed Emergency! (How sick is that?)
Another section of fence went up! Go ahead and hate conservatives while you eat your corn and the gate is slammed shut! The Republicans who voted for this bill, sell fence posts and wire! When enough conservatives have been swayed the corn will stop!
Then, maybe we can eat the strawberries off the wallpaper?
