To the editor:
It seems like every time I turn on the news or I look at social media, stories of crime are becoming more frequent.
I recently saw burglaries were up 19% in Atlanta. Birmingham, Alabama, has a murder rate of 29.1 per capita, and New Orleans is on pace to hit 300 murders this year. Meanwhile, on the West Coast, I read that two men who were arrested for possessing 150,000 fentanyl pills, enough to kill millions of people, then were released days later.
With crime on the rise everywhere, it makes me wonder where the beginning of a solution can be found. But I do know one thing, and that is that the majority of the top 10 cities with the highest crime rates are Democrat-led.
I don't want to be scared to go to the grocery store. Sure, I can leave lights on when I run errands, and I can double-locked my car, but we need leaders who take crime seriously.
This November we must elect Republicans. Politicians like John Fetterman, Raphael Warnock, and Mandela Barnes will only further endanger us. We cannot risk our futures and families.
