This is in response to Mr. Sellers' letter published on July 18 .
Mr. Sellers, you are the one that needs to get your facts right, not just about the photographs of kids that were detained by Trump's administration.
Back to those kids. Let me ask you this -- are you also going to claim that the video evidence and photos of kids in cages that were taken by The Associated Press when they were given a tour of an immigrant detention center in Texas during June 2018 (the midpoint of Trump's administration) were faked? Or maybe you are going to toe the party line and be a coward and claim that lies are facts and real facts are lies.
While some kids were removed from their parents during Obama's Administration, the fact remains that those kids were given to Health and Human services within 72 hours of them being detained. Can you say the same for Trump's Administration?
In fact, the number I mentioned before was an underreported number. According to the Independent Newspaper from the UK, Trump's administration lost 1,475 kids during his one term. That is 1,475 sets of parents wondering were their kids are, not knowing if they are okay or even still alive.
But with the GOP you do not care about that, you do not care about the psychological impact that this has on either the parents or the missing kids. The GOP has proven time and time again that their attitude is as long as I am okay who cares about others.
As to your claim about New York allowing illegal immigrants to vote -- wrong. The real fact is that New York allowed legal immigrants to vote in local elections, i.e. for mayor, council members, and other municipal offices. None of those offices are what runs the country.
Please note the big difference between what yo had claimed and the real facts. The law that was passed in New York did not say as soon as you land in the U.S. you can vote but in fact stated that the person voting had to be a resident of New York for at least 30 days.
