Denying reality doesn't make you right
To the editor:
This is in response to Mr Spahr and his letter that was published on May 31 2022. To use his first line, Can you hear it? The same old conservative male bovine fecal matter published on a near daily basis in The Sentinel. The same old tired tropes. The same old unoriginal garbage from the likes of Mr. Spahr and Mrs. Logan.
Psychiatrists have a phrase called projecting. So when I saw that Mr Spahr claimed that the policies of the Democrats were failing all I could think of is wow he is projecting. Not a single policy from the previous administration helped the U.S. or its populace, not a single one. In fact, all they did was make Americans a laughing stock in other countries, they cut the tourist trade by an average of $6 billion a year, it kidnapped kids from their parents on the southern border and then proceeded to lose those kids.
That, Mr. Spahr, is historical fact or are you going to try and rewrite history as you are always trying to do and deny that never happened?
You mentioned about killing fetuses, let me ask you this. What gives you or any person the right to dictate what a woman can do with her own womb? What happens in a woman's womb should be between her and her doctor, no one else. I mean if you don't like abortions, then fine, don't have one, but don't be a little dictator and tell someone they can't. That sounds like what the Nazis did back in Germany from 1933-1945 when they were finally gotten rid of.
As for claiming that Progressive movement will die in November, I don't think so especially with the GOP response to the latest school shooting being useless thoughts and prayers and saying that schools should only have one door, which by the way is a fire safety hazard or to put an armed police officer at the school. The sad thing is that there was an armed officer in the school before the last school shooting. People, especially those with schoolchildren, will remember the pathetic non-response from your party when they vote in November.
When Mr Spahr mentioned his responses to the LGBTQ community, all I could think was wow here we go again with more bigotry from the right, more of Mr Spahr putting down scientists who have been studying and are still studying this issue.
In fact would it surprise you that even back in Roman times there were transgender people, that is a historical fact. So transgenderism is not a something from the Facebook era as someone claimed in a previous letter published in The Sentinel but in actuality has been with us for a long time.
You mentioned about school board meetings and what parents are mad about. This, Mr. Spahr, is yet another GOP made up crisis that people have fallen for. Kids are not as stupid as you and your party seem to think. Teachers are in schools to educate kids and, yes, sometimes subjects come up that may cause distress.
Here is the thing, Mr. Spahr, when you see videos of parents threatening school board members with assault or even death, it seems that all that you and people like you seem to do is take the side of the parent, you don't see that making threats against someone who is just doing their job is wrong and can be classed as a terrorist threat.
How would you feel if that person later ended up dead due to that threat? I guarantee that you would be on the side of the board member then. You forget Mr. Spahr that when a kid is at home what does he hear his parents and other adults in his life talk about but those same "adult ideas" that you went on about in your letter?
As for Mr. Becht and myself "keeping our opinions to ourselves" maybe we will do that when the Sentinel stops printing garbage like your letter. Until then I will continuing to write to The Sentinel so that your "friends and neighbors" can ask you to respond due to the fact that they don't have the ability to.
