Support of Memorial Day service is appreciated
To the editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who came to the Memorial Day Service and Program beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Historic Courthouse at Monument Square in Lewistown. This program was conceived and put together to honor those who died in service to our country and to keep that honor and respect alive. You did that. Thank you.
The program would not have happened without: Howard Reitenbaugh, Bugles Across America; Richard Erhard, Logan Guards Drum and Bugle Corps; Katherine Nace, Wreaths Across America; Carol and Jack Potts and the VFW Post 7011 Honor Guard; Mike Lyter, AV; John Prendergast for contacts; and our speakers Michael Harris and Scott Hill.
Thanks also to: Mayor Deb Bargo and Lewistown Borough Council; Chief David Clemens and the Lewistown Police Department; Mifflin County Commissioners and Lonnie Griffith for their help on many levels including the use of the Old Courthouse; The Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau; and PennDOT for allowing us to stop traffic for 10 minutes for the outdoor portion of the program.
Also, thanks to: The Sentinel; and those who distributed flyers: Marie Lepley, Greg and Judy DeVecchis, and Valarie DeVecchis.
