Cherry-picking facts doesn't prove anything
To the editor:
This is a reply to Ken Schucht's April 14 letter to the editor.
OMG can it be true, Republicans are fiscally responsible? Do they really try to prevent excessive government spending? Do they really feel less government is better?
What Mr. Schucht stated is no doubt true. Cherry-picking political votes and statements made by Republicans from history proves little. Just last year in the Build Back Better bill there was so much pork attached that no one with common sense was willing to vote for it. I am not going to cherry pick and rebut every statement made in Mr. Schucht's letter. However, many times bills are defeated because of pet projects that would never pass by themselves. They are attached to good bills and in many cases the pork kills the bill. This is a tactic used by both parties. It is a typical strategy. Without full disclosure of what was in every bill Mr. Schucht reported, it has little merit. It is like saying guns kill people. No, people kill people and they use knives, ropes, cars, blunt objects and whatever is available including guns. Republicans kill bills for mostly common sense reasons. This is the balance between parties that has to this point in history worked for us.
Who do we thank for that?
I would like to use Mr. Schucht's tactic and ask if he would stand behind and make the case for the great "Democrat" George Wallace in his 1963 inaugural address? Wallace stated "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever." Would Democrats stand behind that statement today? I think not!
Don't be fooled by Mr. Schucht's weak attempt to deflect the undisputed failure of current Democrat policies. All the "benefit" savings uttered in Mr. Schucht's letter have been greedily gobbled by current inflation. The worst part is inflation is not finished and we will live with this cancer for the long haul.
Who do we thank for that Mr. Schucht? Democrat voters and Joe Biden, that's who!
