Another fairy tale from a right-wing writer
To the editor:
On April 5, I opened the paper to see yet another fairy tale from the right this time, sorry I mean letter (as per usual) blaming this administration for everything from the poor getting poorer to the high cost of oil.
Wow I am surprised that I did not fall back to sleep from this fairy tale. First of all, let's look at his claim about the inequality between the rich and poor. In the former guy's term he "reformed" the taxes, which gave the rich a nice big tax break. The money from this tax break was used to buy back stocks and shares instead of what it actually should have done and that is provide higher wages for the rich person's earnings.
There was one story I read in the news that I remember from the time about a poor teacher that made $1.50 a week after this "tax reform" that was proven to only help the rich and not the poor.
And please none of the nonsense about "well, the Census Bureau claims that the average household income when up by $4,000." There are people that claim that the Earth is flat. I don't believe them just like I don't believe the Census Bureau.
There are still people even after this so-called reform that are living paycheck to paycheck, still people having to decide between food or pay a bill. That is the only thing that the writer of this letter got right was about the poor having to chose or cut back on things.
Unlike the writer of this letter the Biden Administration is not for blame for the present state of our country but the state of this country can actually be traced back to the former administration and the tax scam that was allowed to take place.
Now to his energy independence claim: Really? The pipeline that quite often gets mentioned by the right is the XL pipeline. So, let me get this straight, the right wing thinks that a pipeline that was going from Canada (not in the US) straight down to Mexico (again not in the US) not deviating to any oil refinery in the US was going to make the US energy independent -- a pipeline I may add that was going to go through Native American tribal land and destroy their drinking water? Let me ask the right wing a hypothetical question -- just say that U.S. citizens were in reservations and the government was all conservative Native Americans and they decided to allow a pipeline to run through the reservation that the U.S. citizens were on destroying the drinking water supply, at the next election there is a change in leadership, they stop the pipeline because of the drinking water issue, would you still want that pipeline built knowing very well that it would destroying your drinking water?
Now to the second part of that oil issue and the high cost at the pump. That sir is to do with OPEC not the administration. If you are that worried about the prices maybe you should be getting on to OPEC about it.
Now to his third section on that can of beans: Considering that last year businesses were claiming record profits but have still deemed it necessary to price gouge, I would say that the real reason for the price increases at the grocery store has to do with greed and nothing else.
It has nothing to do with running of a business as claimed but is pure greed from both the corporation and the business owner. Plain and simple.
