Figuring out why I don’t qualify for free phone

To the editor:

One recent morning, I phoned the White House at (202) 456-1111 to find out if I was eligible for a free cellphone like the ones the federal government is providing for the illegals coming across our southern border.

Phone rang -- no answer.

So I called the White House switchboard at (202) 456-1414. The man that answered asked where I had obtained that information. When I said Fox News and CNN had both reported it, he said he was not aware of such a program.

Eight years ago I was not eligible for a free "Obama phone" either.

Then I realized I'm only a native-born American citizen taxpayer veteran.

Of course I wouldn't qualify.
