To the editor:
This is in response to the letter published on April 21 by Mr. Spahr.
First of all Mr. Spahr, the letter that was published by Mr. Becht did not impose a questionable choice of a trophy presentation, as you claimed but in fact called out the asinine claim that Republicans always state about transgender people having an "unfair" advantage in sports, which if you actually used some reading comprehension you would have seen.
As for those states that enacted bans on transgender sports, that just shows the bigotry that is rampant in those states. As for you saying that there are many more to come, only of bigotry wins.
It does seem funny though how the U.S. seems to be the only country in what is supposed to be the civilized Western Hemisphere that worries what genitals are in an athlete's pants when they compete. In the paragraph that Mr. Spahr had published that starts with the words "The fact that the trophy...." we can clearly see the problem with the GOP as a whole, their bigotry and hypocrisy. If the sports council has decided that a transgender person is allowed to participate as the gender that person identifies with, then how is that the business of a politician or a regular member of the public?
As far as many people, and, yes, Mr. Spahr, there are far more people that actually support the LGBT community than do not, actually support what the sports councils are doing by letting this happen and not bowing down to a few hate-filled bigoted malcontents.
Then we have the line in Mr. Spahr letter that really shows his way of thinking. The line is about changing nature. Funny that especially considering that it is the Republican Party that wants to change the nature of time and take everything back to when being different was a crime and to when women were property. Mr. Spahr with that line has proven yet again that in his mind being different and living your life as you see fit should be made a crime like it was before the 1960s.
Now let's go to his paragraphs on the BLM in which he made reference to a story from the New York Post, a tabloid newspaper by the way that does not have a respectful history, and then he claim that according to me the tactics used by the BLM are strictly Republican tactics. Really, Mr. Spahr? Please show us in what letter that I have had published that I made that claim, or is this just a claim of an old tired Republican who is seeing things? If that is the case, then I suggest that you go and see someone for those visual hallucinations.
