This is in response to the letter published on March 12 from Steve Wagner.
Wow, Mr Wagner, you don't often get a letter published but when you do, you can certainly see who is a few sandwiches short of a picnic.
The right wing propaganda/brainwashing that is often in letters from the (far) right wing such as yours can be seen through the comments contained in the missive.
Now to your comments on changing our life and needing oil. Really Mr. Wagner? Let me ask you this, have you heard of car pooling, or walking or riding a bicycle, the last two of which do not need oil? Maybe use those instead of driving to work.
As for you saying that we need oil now, really, at what expense to the environment? Do you want to have an oil rig on every piece of land that has oil under it? Wow, what a way to show future generations that we cared about the future by destroying the very land that the Republican Party claims they want to keep for generations to enjoy. How very eco-conscious of you, and yes, that was me being sarcastic.
Now to your claims of the current problems being from "the present bunch of dimwits." Really, Mr. Wagner? Let's look at that claim. While we have a supply chain issue at present this is not something new or just belonging to this administration. Fact: back when the pandemic started (under the previous Trump administration by the way) there was also supply chain issue. I mean you do remember the toilet paper shortages and the cleaning supplies shortages? Not to mention the food shortages that were clearly also under Trump. You do remember the shortages in the grocery aisles in all grocery stores? What? No you don't? Well, they do say that the memory is one of the first things to go.
Now to the other problem of high gas prices. You do know that the administration has nothing to do with what a person pays at the gas pump, it is all to do with supply and demand. When the demand is low then the cost is low when the demand is high then the opposite happens. The prices are set by numerous factors none of which have anything to do with the current administration. Try some research to see why and don't, just like all Republicans do, make assumptions.
Now to counter your argument on against the poor and needy getting more money. Why give the rich more money via tax breaks or allowing them to get away with not paying their fair share of taxes? I mean they have more money than they can spend in a lifetime, they have usually more than one home to live in, they take numerous vacations a year, they don't have to worry about paying their utility bills or getting food on their tables.
Yet the poor rarely get a vacation, have to worry about getting food on their table and quite often have to put off paying their utility bills. I know for one I would have more money going to social programs than to already over budgeted areas such as the military (who by the way already has more money going to it that the next 10 countries combined). Yes, some of the poor get help with housing, medical care and other necessities but not all do -- the ones that don't get as much help are called the working poor. Next time you try and say all poor, I suggest that you try a little thing called research.
I suggest that you break that brainwashing and actually wake up.
P.S. The only scam that was run was by the Republicans and Trump when they tried to claim that the 2020 election was stolen.Guess what? Their scam failed.
