We need the change Biden will provide
To the editor:
With a Biden/Harris win, it would change America! A much better America. We will have a president who doesn't lie to the American people over 21,000 times and still counting.
We will have a president who is not going to take away Social Security, Medicare or raise your taxes. He is going to have those making $400,000 and up and make big corporations pay their fair share.
Trump already lowered taxes in 2017 and wants to do it again, meaning there will be no money for SS come 2023 and the system will be bankrupted. The money for SS comes from the working people in taxes they pay. What will people do who rely on SS to pay their bills? Or people who are are retired and people who are planning to retire in the next three years, relying on SS to be there for them?
A lot of people do not know what the Trump tax break given in 2020 for the COVID-19 pandemic, will need to be paid back in their filing of taxes in 2021 and it will go into the General Fund, not the SS fund.
Even now, Trump is still fighting and lying about his taxes. Paying only $750 in this election year, the record shows, yet, he says he paid millions. So let's see it! (Oh yes! He is under audit! Sorry!) One reasons he may want to stay in office is the report that he owes more than $400 million. To whom? Foreign countries? The New York Manhattan DA is investigating Trump's tax filings.
You can't arrest a sitting president, if the Democrats can take over the Senate, maybe they can bring up impeachment proceedings again, should he get elected for something!
What health plan does Trump have, when he plans on taking away the Affordable Care Act? He says it will be released soon or it is just around the corner. The word is soon. He has been saying that since taking office. Same for a vaccine. It will be out soon.
You people who have not voted yet, consider if you want SS and health care to be there for you. Vote Biden/Harris.
Why doesn't Trump want to participate in a virtual debate? He needs to be able to speak over everyone. He can't control the situation at hand. He can't shut up. He said himself "They would probably shut off the microphone. Why shouldn't they? His time was up.
You also have all these books out written by Mary Trump, Michael Cohen, Bob Woodward, to name a few about Trump. The tapes between Trump and Bob Woodward with Trump saying he knew how bad this virus was, he didn't want to panic the people, so he was downplaying it. Now we have over 218,000 deaths in the U.S. and over 7.5 million known cases.
As for that lifeguard in the filthy pool, (I call it a cespool), the lifeguard who can only cannonball and his associates (Barr, Cruz, Graham, McConnell to name a few under him) holding his head above the swamp (which he said he was going to drain), we can't afford another four more years of this lifeguard. We are all going to drown.
70% of Americans think this country is going in the wrong direction. Let's make a change for America. Vote Biden/Harris.

Why I'm not voting for Republican candidates
To the editor:
It is important for all registered voters to vote, and it's none of my business who you vote for or why; and it's none of your business who I vote for or why. Having said that, however, let me share with you my reasons for not voting for any Republican who is running for U.S. Congress or president.
In the last 40 years, the financial gap between the rich and the poor has widened considerably; and the middle class is fast disappearing. In addition, the national debt has also increased dramatically during that same time period.
Major tax cuts favoring the wealthy have occurred during the Republican terms of Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush and Donald Trump. Additionally, spending for national defense and wars has also increased at the same time. Government, at any level, cannot decrease its tax revenue and then increase spending without incurring debt, and this is what happened during those Republican administrations.
Our current Republican president has been bankrupt many times. This means he has not paid others money that he owed them. Can he be entrusted to balance tax revenue and government spending? No!
If Dwight Eisenhower, a Republican, was running for president again, I would vote for him because he knew how to balance tax revenue and government spending and still support necessary government social programs benefitting the people, and without getting involved in unnecessary wars.
By the way, the Second Amendment has not and will not be repealed, so no one will be taking away your guns. Remember when the Republicans said that if Bill Clinton was relected, he would take away your guns? He was reelected and it didn't happen.
