The notion that Mother's Day falls on the same weekend as the annual Kid Connection is arguably the best type of coincidence.
Youngsters ages 2-12 have the opportunity from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. today to spend bonding with mom over events like Kid Karaoke and milkshakes in downtown Lewistown.
The free event offers resources to help connect families with support agencies, according to Cassandra Goss, chairperson for Kid Connection.
The event, Goss explained, has become a staple in Mifflin County.
We hope that parents will take this as an opportunity to share stories about when they were young and attended the event.
With more than 30 vendors, parents are sure to find something to keep them busy.
On Sunday, the attention turns from kids to celebrating mom -- thanking her for all she does to show how much she cares each and every day.
This includes kids of all ages.
For adults, flowers are always a nice touch. But if you don't live nearby, it doesn't take much to pick up the phone to let her know you're thinking of her. It could be just what is needed to brighten her day.

While the forecast isn't necessarily looking ideal for outdoor activities like boating or hiking on Sunday, there is plenty you can do indoors to show your appreciation.
It's not about what you do, it's about putting in the time.
