John William Shank, 88, (formerly of Lewistown), passed away on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026 at Valley View Haven, Belleville.
Born on Dec. 15, 1937, he was the son of the late Edwin B. and Sarah E. (Goss) Shank. On June 28, 1968, he married Eloise L. (Weaver) Shank, who preceded him in death on Aug. 28, 2011.
Surviving are daughters: Linda K. Porpotage and husband, Robert, of Burnham, Karen S. Kahley and husband, Nathan, of Milroy, two grandchildren: Spencer A. and Olivia G. Kahley; and siblings: Anna C. Weaver, of Belleville and Willard C. Shank, of Milroy.
John was a 1955 graduate of Armagh-Brown High School. He retired in 2002 from Dean Foods in Belleville with 23 years of service. Prior to his employment at Dean Foods, he worked at the Reedsville Mill.
He was an avid bowler and bowled with the church league and senior league for many years. He enjoyed gardening, watching baseball, he especially loved watching the Phillies play. He was also very proud of his grandchildren.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Siglerville.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026 from 2 to 3 p.m. at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 6880 SR 655, Reedsville. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mike Sigler officiating. Burial will take place at Salem Cemetery in Milroy.
