Heather Colleen Bower

Heather Colleen Bower, 55, of Lewistown, passed away suddenly, on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born April 10, 1971, in Salem New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Justin McCarthy and Margaret (Gentry) McCarthy, who survives.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Barry Bower.

She is survived by her long time fiancé Eddie Munson; her children, Meghan McCarthy Bruno and husband, Pasquale Bruno, and Sean Bower; her grandchildren, Natalia "Tay", Pietro "Rocco", and Pasquale "PJ" Bruno; three sisters, Marylee McCarthy DaRoss, Cathleen McCarthy, and Christine McCarthy; a dear mother-in-law, Barbara Munson.

Heather grew up in Salem County and lived there for most of her life. She graduated from Salem High School in 1989 and went on to earn her associate degree from Salem Community College. With a compassionate heart and a natural desire to help others, she worked in a nursing home caring for the elderly. Heather was known for her witty sense of humor, kind spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed. She was a great friend to many and cherished motorcycle rides with her fiancé, as well as the time she spent with her beloved animals.

After moving to Pennsylvania, Heather continued her role as a caregiver, as she genuinely enjoyed helping others and caring for animals in need. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her for her listening ear, blunt honesty, kind heart, and quirky demeanor.

A private memorial service will take place in honor of her memory.

Arrangements are under the care of Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
