Darrel L. Harshbarger, 71, of Mountain View Lane, McVeytown, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born Aug. 18, 1955, in Lewistown, he was a son of D. Joan Harshbarger of Chambersburg and the late Marlin D. Harshbarger. His wife of 51 years, Jan L. (Harshbarger) Harshbarger, survives.
Also surviving are: two daughters, Brandy L. Shawver and husband, Brian, Christina R. “Chrissy” Shawver and husband, Daniel, both of Lewistown; a brother, Randy J. Harshbarger and wife Dixie, of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, Emma Ranae Clark and husband Levi, and Colin J. Fisher.
Darrel retired as a mailroom supervisor at SCI Huntingdon and worked numerous years at Brian’s Auto Repair in McVeytown.
He was a member of Camp Carlisle in Licking Creek and the Standing Stone Bass Club.
Darrel was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing the Juniata River and Lake Raystown. He especially loved sitting close to a good campfire with his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren with Pastor Randy Fiske officiating.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
