Raymond Grant Taylor II, age 65, of Huntingdon, passed away Thursday, Sept, 24, 2026, at UPMC Altoona, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Huntingdon, to Raymond Grant Taylor and Gladys Butler Taylor. He was a graduate of Juniata Valley High School where he played varsity football and basketball. He obtained a bachelor's degree in computer science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. While a student at IUP, he was a member of the fencing team.
He began his career at Swigart Associates and went on to work in systems analysis and software development at several companies throughout his career, including Ward Trucking and Corvette America. He took pride in his work and in the knowledge and skills he gained throughout the many years of his career before retiring in Jan. 2024.
He had many passions throughout his life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time outdoors. His adventurous spirit led him to experience one of his lifelong dreams during retirement when he traveled to Africa for a three-week safari. He treasured the memories and experiences he gained through his travels, hunting, fishing, and exploring the outdoors.
Ray loved sports and frequently coached his sons in community baseball, football and basketball.
He also had a deep love of music and found great joy in using his gifts to serve others. He was a member of the worship team and sound team at Word of Life Fellowship, where his faith and love of music allowed him to serve his church family.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Cyndy Taylor; his sons, Adam Taylor and Jason Taylor; his daughters-in-law, Megan Taylor and Elena Ivanez-Vilaplana; and his granddaughter, Renee, who brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Grant Taylor and Gladys Butler Taylor.
He will be remembered for his love of family, his faith, his love of music, his adventurous spirit, and his enjoyment of hunting and fishing. Most of all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, and he will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, at the Word of Life Fellowship, 6013 Wesley Chapel Rd., Huntingdon, PA, with the Reverend Stephen Watkins officiating. Friends will be received in the church from 4 p.m. until the hour of service.
