James Michael Zook, 25, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026.
James was born on Aug. 1, 2001, in Lewistown, and joined the Zook family a few days later.
He is survived by his parents, Brenda Eby Zook, of Williamsport, and J. Max Zook, of Belleville, as well as his brothers and their families: Jonathan and Adriene Zook, Connor and Chloe of Williamsport, Joseph Zook and Meredith Lorencz, of Gallup, N.M., and Jason and Teresa Hartley, Aubri and Cali of Gilbertsville, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents John S and Minnie Zook, and Martin and Evelyn Eby as well as his biological mother Heather Henderson and her mother Starr Henderson.
James enjoyed driving fast, creating art, hanging out with friends, reading, sewing, running, perfecting his back flip, and every outdoor activity including plowing snow.
He attended and played soccer at Belleville Mennonite School.
James was a member Locust Grove Mennonite church and graduated from Bald Eagle Boys Camp. He participated in reenactments at the Hans Herr House in Lancaster. He loved his jobs at the Nittany Minit Mart in Belleville and the Big Valley Thrift and Gift Store.
James has been deeply loved by his family, but our love couldn't save him from his darkest moments. We are trusting that God walked with James through the valley of the shadow to his eternal home. May eternity be too short for him to see it all with his artist's eye and process it with a clear and unclouded mind.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 6880 SR 655, Reedsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
