Daniel Brown William Baker, of Lewistown, PA, passed away on Sept. 16, 2026, at Valley View Memory Lane with the best care team ever. He was born on November 21, 1942, to the late Charlotte and Brown Baker.
Daniel was the beloved husband of the late Sandy (Saundra) Baker and a devoted father to Matthew Baker and his wife, Gwyn, and Michelle Baker Grogan and her significant other, Mary Lou Burton.
Dan was a man who never met a stranger he didn't speak to. He was funny, friendly, and always ready to talk. Whether he was at the grocery, stopping into Peight’s store, or simply out and about, Dan could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. Later in life, he especially enjoyed dancing at Shy Bear to the band, RC3, and he had a way of making people smile and feel like they had known him forever.
He loved life and enjoyed doing the things that made him happiest and music/dancing was at the top of the list. Dan was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman, loved a good conversation, and the people he met along the way. He also enjoyed playing Volleyball at the YMCA.
He worked throughout his life in Information Technology (IT) at Standard Steel, Allegheny International, Bally Case and Cooler, always working hard and providing for his family and was beloved by his staff.
Above all else, family was important to Dan. He was a proud grandfather to Nick, Aaron, and Tiffany, and a great-grandfather to Liam, Logan, Mauve, and Bennett. His family was a source of great love and pride, and the memories they made together will be cherished always.
Another big part of Dan's last few years was the rekindled relationship he had with Kay Groninger. They reunited at a high school class luncheon. Kay was a god send for Dan over the last 4 years with her huge loving heart and caring support.
Dan leaves behind more than a lifetime of memories. He leaves behind the people he loved, the people who loved him, and countless stories and smiles that will be shared for years to come.
His quick wit, friendly nature, and ability to talk to just about anyone will be deeply missed.
Dan was one of those people who left a little bit of himself everywhere he went--and a smile on the faces of the people he met.
He will be loved and remembered always.
