Shirley M. Walter, 75, of Reedsville, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026.
She was born on Aug. 25, 1950, in Altoona, daughter of the late Leo V. and Josephine J. (Kovacs) DeDea.
She married Ronald P. Walter on Dec. 27, 1969, in Altoona, and together they brought into this world, a son and a daughter.
Surviving are her husband, Ronald Walter, of Reedsville, son: Ronald Walter Jr. and wife, Dianna, of Milroy, and daughter: Crystal James, and partner, Andrew Hower, of Lewistown; 7 grandchildren; Daniel Treece, Dylan Treece and wife, Nautica, Tyler Walter, Alicia Geedy and husband, Jonathan, Alyssa Williams, Jessica Renninger, and husband, Devon and Austin James and wife, Leslie; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Patricia Cloud and husband Cloudy of Kennett Square; Joanne Holland and husband, Thomas, of Hollidaysburg; Theresa Dillen, of Bellwood; as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She graduated in 1968 from Hollidaysburg High School. She was an auditor for Brown Township for 25 years.
Shirley was a member of the American Legion in Milroy.
Shirley had a true love for travel and was fortunate enough to travel to Cancun several times, Hawaii, and then becoming a snowbird in Florida for several years. She loved her family and friends, listening to oldies music, and dancing with Ron. She also enjoyed baking and was known for her delicious cookies and peanut butter fudge.
Per her request, there will be no services.
