Sarah M. Espigh

Sarah M. Espigh, 102, formerly of River Road, Lewistown, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born Nov. 5, 1923, in Bratton Twp., she was a daughter of the late Lewis W. and Dorothy M. (Fagan) Yoder. Her husband, Clair E. Espigh Sr., preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1980.

Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Frances Cowan, Esther Kauffman; and two brothers, Clyde Yoder, Ronald Yoder.

Surviving are: a son, Clair E. Espigh Jr. and wife, Carolyn, of Lewistown; a sister, Nannie Irvin, of McVeytown; a brother, Robert Yoder and wife, Marge, of Reedsville; three grandchildren, Carla Krahl and husband, Dave, Colette Kauffman and husband, Joseph, Craig Espigh; four great grandchildren, Marissa, Callie, Emma, Ian; two great grandchildren, Ridge and Laiken.

She retired from the former Scotty's Fashions in Lewistown.

Sarah was a member of the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren and the Work and Win Sunday school class. She also taught Sunday school and Bible school and enjoyed cooking and sewing for her church. Most of all she loved time with her family, especially her grandchildren and their families.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, at the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren with Pastor Connie Maclay officiating. Interment will be in Pine Glen Cemetery.

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.
