Patricia A. Aurand, 82, formerly of Juniata Terrace, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at William Penn Healthcare in Lewistown.
Born March 23, 1944, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Renno B. and Violette R. (Moist) Aurand.
Also preceding her in death was a stepmother, Glendolene M. Aurand; a sister, Marjorie K. Aurand; an infant brother; and a stepbrother, Kenneth E. Hartley.
Surviving are: two stepsisters, Carol A. Howe, Gail L. Gibbons; and numerous cousins.
In 1961 she became a member of the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren and graduated in 1962 from Rothrock High School in McVeytown.
She then attended the Plaza School of Beauty in Lewistown, becoming a beautician and working locally at the former McMeens Department Store beauty salon.
In 1967 Patricia moved to Philadelphia and began working at J.B. Lippincott American Publishing House as a proofreader. She was later employed at the Fishbein & Co. accounting firm before returning to Mifflin County where she bought a house in Juniata Terrace and was employed as a residential cleaner for several families. She also spent those years caring for her younger sister, Marjorie, until her passing in 2002; and at her church she became a member of the Homebuildres Sunday School Class and the prayer chain.
Patricia was particularly interested in her family’s genealogy, keeping her own personal records as a great source of information for others.
Having grown up on a farm, she had a love for animals and enjoyed many house pets over the years.
Pat always had a friendly demeanor and like her Dad, a wonderful sense of humor. On one of the last days she was able to communicate, when asked for a word to describe herself as a country girl leaving to become a city girl, she responded in her weak voice, “resouceful!” Her humor was there after all she had been through.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Connie Maclay officiating. Interment will be in Pine Glen Cemetery.
