John S. Young, 89, of Lewistown, passed away on Monday, Aug. 10, 2026 at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on July 2, 1937, in Granville, he was the son of the late George Howard and Violet (Swanger) Young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Bowen, Dorothy Ream, Annie Rayson, Jane Fultz, and James Young.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Rheam) Young; three children, John Young, Angela Young, and Bradley Young, all of Lewistown; one sister, Helen Pennepacker, of Reedsville, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Young began his employment at Marlette Homes in Lewistown, which later became Clayton Homes where he retired after over 40 years of service working in several different divisions over the years.
John was a member and attended Lewistown Alliance Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, watching his hummingbirds, enjoying time with his two canine companions, Sadie and Scoot and cherishing time with his beloved great niece, Mave Rheam.
John will be most remembered as a devoted family man.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026 at the Lewistown Alliance Church, 50 Hudson Ave., Lewistown with Pastor Bill Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Rock Cemetery, Lewistown.
A viewing will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Young's memory can be made to his church, Lewistown Alliance Church, 50 Hudson Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown.
