James E. ‘Biff’ Shawver

James E. "Biff" Shawver, 73, of McClure, passed away Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born Feb. 4, 1953, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Cloyd A. Shawver Sr. and Lulu Rose (Powers) Shawver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Lucas E. Shawver; and an infant sister; and a sister, Vivian 'Biff' Myers.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene J. (Stewart) Shawver; children, Tracy L. Shilling and husband, Brett, of McClure, Sandy J. Scarborough and husband, John, of Loganton, Jamie S. Fultz, of McClure, Rusty J. Shawver and wife, Loni, of McClure; grandchildren, Brenna N. Bubb and husband Jacob, Emily E. Leister and husband, Gage, Addison M. Shilling and companion, Emily Weaver, John J. Scarborough and companion, Ava Butler, Ellynn M. Scarborough, Maria J. Fultz, Cole R. Fultz, Lucas E., Tanner J., Garrett R., and Bailey A. Shawver; great-grandchildren, Paden C. Leister, and Callen M. Leister; siblings, Hilda 'Babe' Haubrick, Cloyd 'June' Shawver Jr. and wife, Margaret, Leroy Shawver and wife, Judy, all of Coburn, Sam Shawver and companion, Jen, of Aaronsburg, Mary Creeger and husband, Jay, of Madisonburg; and a brother-in-law, Martin Myers.

He was a member of Alfarata St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church and a 1972 graduate of Penn Highland High School.

He worked at Mexico Forge, J-Wood Company, Hoffman Concrete and lastly at Centre Concrete as a concrete mixer driver.

His family was the center of his world. He adored his wife, and he poured his love into his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness. James enjoyed playing softball, spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing, and attending Bow Fest. He also loved watching his grandchildren play baseball and participate in 4-H.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

A second viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Reverend Bill Esborn and Reverend Kenny Grove officiating.

Interment will take place at Vira Methodist Cemetery.
