Ellen Gibboney Bryant

Ellen Gibboney Bryant, of State College, formerly of Belleville, passed away at Mount Nittany Medical Center on Aug. 2, 2026. She reposed peacefully into the providence of God and will remain forever in the hearts of many family and friends.

Ellen was born Feb. 22, 1940 in McAlevys Fort, Huntington County, the daughter of Nana Margaret (Foulke) Gibboney and Charles Thomas Gibboney.

Ellen graduated from Belleville High School in 1958, where she played varsity basketball. It was there where she met her lifelong friend Sally Metz, and they both ended up sharing a lifetime of adventures together including opening an antique collection and refinishing business which operated for several years in Belleville.

Ellen married Bill Bryant of State College in 1982. She and Bill were also keen on travel and fun. Their whimsy took them everywhere from hunting mule deer in South Dakota to fishing for Marlin in the Caribbean Sea. They visited many American cities and collected antiques extensively.

Ellen remained in State College after Bill passed away in 1986. She and her friend Sally became enthusiastic supporters of the town and gown atmosphere in Happy Valley. Ellen could frequently be seen golfing, enjoying Penn State Football, women's basketball, and her wonderful group of friends at her favorite restaurant, The Tavern.

The family would like to express their gratitude for Ellenás caregiver, Jackie. She was a wonderful presence of daily care, joy, and compassion in Ellenás life.

Her beloved family and friends' lives will not be the same without her laughter, charm and grace but the memories of Ellen will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.

A small, private celebration of life will be planned at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 6880 SR 655, Reedsville. Online condolences can be made at www.hendersonbohnfuneralhome.com.
