Vonda L. Stitt, 87, of Lewistown, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at UPMC Altoona.
Born on Aug. 31, 1938, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Henry) Stitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Thomas Stitt, Betty Diven, Patricia Ritter, Richard Stitt, Robert Stitt, and Janet Heller.
Vonda is survived by her siblings, James Stitt, of Lewistown; Judy Peace, of Yeagertown; and Carol Quay, of Cookeville, Tennessee. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart.
Vonda dedicated 37 years of her career to the United States Government, where she worked in administrative management in Washington, D.C. Following her retirement, she continued to serve others by volunteering for 15 years at Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C.
Vonda had a true love of adventure and travel and was fortunate to see much of the world throughout her life. Among her many adventures, she especially enjoyed whitewater rafting, including unforgettable experiences at the Grand Canyon.
She was grateful for all of the opportunities and privileges she encountered throughout her life, which was very fulfilling and she considered herself blessed to have had opportunities she had. Vonda returned to the Juniata Valley as she considered it one of the most beautiful parts of the country and had many pleasant childhood memories of growing up in the area. She always considered her family as one of her greatest blessings and was happy to be back among them.
In accordance with Vonda's wishes, there will be no services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
