A Daughter's Prayer for Her Father
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus and your earthly son, Robert Eugene Reichenbach, whom you brought into this world on July 16, 1952. He walked with you and us throughout his 74 years of life until you welcomed him into your eternal Kingdom on July 27, 2026 while at home.
Robert was born to Geraldine Reichenbach and raised with the love and guidance by Paul and Ruth (Himes/Horn) Druckenmiller. He married the love of his life, Darlene Elder on May 30, 1970. After attending Rothrock and Lewistown High Schools he explored many occupations leading to his employment at Empire Kosher where he worked faithfully until his retirement in 1988.
Lord, we thank you for Dad's love and his pure joy of being with people, especially family and friends. Thank you for his excitement over picnics at “the shed” and the many celebrations shared over the years. Thank you for blessing him as a sportsman and sharing his love of hunting and the outdoors with his children.
We thank you for his many talents and the example he set by faithfully reading your Holy word each day, studying scripture to better understand how to walk in your ways, attending church, and actively worshipping you at the Church of Christ. Thank you for his conversations about church and always encouraging me in my faith.
Thank you for the memories of playing games with him, especially Yahtzee, bingo, and cards, for his craftsmanship, and for the value he placed on education, encouraging both his children and grandchildren to learn and grow. Thank you for his love of collecting coins and for sharing that passion with his grandchildren.
Most of all, thank you for those time of pure joy that radiated from him whenever he was with those he loved, especially his grandchildren. Thank you for his childlike spirit, his willingness to try anything, and his genuine happiness simply to be alive and surrounded by others. Thank you for his hospitality, his concern for the well-being of family, friends, and neighbors, his thoughtful cards and letters, the sending of his annual Christmas cards, his many phone calls, his visits, and, most importantly, his prayers.
Lord, Dad knew the power of prayer. He prayed anytime and anywhere, trusting that you were always listening.
He was not a perfect man, but he was perfectly our Dad. He knew his shortcomings, and he sincerely sought to grow closer to you through your word each day.
We thank you for the care, friendships and fellowship he found at LIFE Geisinger and at the Lewistown Senior Center. Thank you for giving him a heart that made everyone around him feel like they were the most important person in the room. He had a remarkable gift for making people feel like the star of the show, and he advertised that joy generously with the world.
His children and grandchildren will forever be touched by his unwavering love.
Dad is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Reichenbach, of Lewistown, his children, Bobbie (Nate) Goss, of McVeytown and Steven (Amy Soccio), of Lewistown and his beloved grandchildren, Ralie Myers (Noah) of, Milroy and Nathan M. Goss, of McVeytown. His memory will be cherished by his twin brother, James Reichenbach, of Royal Valley, Pa., his sisters, Mary (Joseph) Logan, of Mifflintown and Josephine Boozle, of Apache Junction, of Arizona. Robert was also graced with sisters, Jerene Harshbarger and Lennis Palm who preceded him in death, Debra Civitts, of Belleville, and Darla Stuter, of Mifflintown.
Lord, walk beside us in the days ahead. Comfort our hearts, strengthen our faith, and remind us that because of you, death is not the end but the beginning of eternal life.
I will close with the words Dad ended every conversation with me: “I love you, and God bless.” Amen.
In lieu of flowers, Robert's memory may be honored by taking the time to open the Bible to read God's Word, calling to check in on loved ones or by offering a prayer for someone in need.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday August 3, 2026 at Wesley Chapel Church, 1715 Lockport Rd, Lewistown. There will be a viewing held at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Interment will take place in Union Cemetery in Mifflintown.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
