Jocelyn “Josie” (Crozier) Casner, 87, of Mifflintown, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 24, 2026.
Born on May 10, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Ruth (Clark) Crozier.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald C. Casner, on Sept. 7, 2021, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage; a son, Kerry Dea Casner; a sister, Dorothy R. Russ; and a son-in-law, Michael Kane; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Stong.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Tobi Kane; daughter-in-law, Rosemarie Casner; grandsons, William “Bill” Gilson (Bonita), Ryan Casner, Michael Casner, and Stephen Casner; step-grandsons, Alexander Kane and Nathan Kane; great-granddaughters, Lexie and Lindsea Gilson; sisters, Karen Moyer (Gary) and Joan Stong, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
Josie graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1957. Throughout her career, she worked in the office of Dr. Stephen Dodd, for the United States Postal Service, and at the law office of Michael “Doc” Johnston.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Mifflin. Josie and Don shared a lifelong love of dancing. They were members of the Capital City Polka Club, where they served as dance instructors and were frequently invited to perform and demonstrate polka dancing at festivals and community events. Together they made numerous appearances on Pennsylvania Polka on WVIA-TV in Wilkes-Barre. They also enjoyed square dancing and attending Doo-Wop performances.
Earlier in life, Josie was a Brownie leader and played pitcher on the Mifflin women's softball team, coached by her father, where the team won numerous league championships.
She and Don loved traveling together and never passed up the opportunity to try a new restaurant. Above all, Josie loved people. She treasured time spent visiting, playing cards and games and sharing laughter with family and friends. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by those she loved.
Josie was often the last person to leave any social gathering, and anyone who stopped by for a visit was likely to hear her favorite parting words: “Don't go.” Those two simple words reflected the warmth, hospitality, and genuine love she had for others.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church, 287 Deerville Road, Mifflintown, with Gerald “Chip” Baumgardner officiating. Interment will be private in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown. There will be no viewing.
