Irvin L. ‘Snooky’ Snook Sr.

Irvin L. “Snooky” Snook Sr., 85, of Lewistown, passed away on July 21, 2026, at William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born April 25, 1941, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Irvin L. Black and Cora Snook Shawver, and stepson of the late Merle A. Shawver.

Irvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Patricia L. (Leach) Snook; his sister, Jean Shawver Phillips; his grandson, JD Dull; and his son-in-law, Jeffrey Dull.

He is survived by his children, Susan J. Dull and Jeffrey A. Snook, both of Lewistown, and Irvin L. Snook Jr. (wife Wilma), of Port Royal; along with a large and loving family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, James S. Shawver (wife Kathy), Lavone Shawver, and Barbara Rowland (husband Roy).

Irvin worked as a master maintenance worker for Mifflin County High School until retiring in 2003. After retiring, he found joy and purpose in driving the Amish wherever life needed them to be. A member of Lewistown Moose Lodge #143, he had a deep affection for his cat, Tom, he was always willing to spend his last dollar on chicken for his furry companion.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hoenstine Funeral Home in Lewistown.

A graveside service for Irvin and his late wife Patricia will take place Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Maitland Cemetery.
