Donald G. Havice ‘Zeke’

Donald G. Havice “Zeke,” 90, of Lewistown, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

Born July 4, 1935, in Yeagertown, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Lestie (Gilbert) Havice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Judith Mensch Havice, and his sister Audry Havice.

He graduated from Burnham Derry High School and attended Juniata College and Shippensburg University, where he received a Master of Science degree. Donald also played football and wrestled in college.

He is survived by his sons, Derrick Havice and his wife Mary Allio of Linglestown, Pa., and Jason Havice and his wife Stephanie Havice of Cobalt, Conn.; and his cherished grandchildren, Ian Havice, Julia Havice, and Owen Ritter. He is also survived by his twin sister, Shirley Havice.

Donald dedicated many years of his life to education, first with the West Snyder School District, where he met his wife Judith and coached wrestling, including a state champion, and later with the Mifflin County School District, where he also coached wrestling and football. He was a respected science teacher until his retirement.

When he was a kid, Donald always thought the fireworks on the Fourth of July were for celebrating his birthday.

Donald always enjoyed reading and learning in his free time. He loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking. Donald and Judith were avid travelers, exploring national and state parks across the country in their RV and creating countless memories along the way. He will be fondly remembered as a father, grandfather, and brother.
