Thomas L. Fletcher, Jr.
Thomas L. Fletcher, Jr., 100, of Lewistown, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Brookline Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Mifflintown.
Born on Aug. 28, 1926, in Everett, he was the son of the late Thomas L. Fletcher, Sr. and Lola (McAuliffe) Fletcher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Louise Gingher, Virginia Hornberger, Ann Wagner, Mary Rothrock, and Esther Leeper. As the last surviving member of his immediate family, Tom carried with him a lifetime of cherished memories and family traditions.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great- great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Tom honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Army during World War II, a service of which he remained deeply proud throughout his life.
Following his military service, Tom enjoyed a successful career in the communications industry, working for many years as a field representative with RCA, Burroughs, and AMP. His professional accomplishments were matched only by his unwavering faith and dedication to his community.
A devoted and active member of First United Methodist Church in Lewistown, Tom lived his faith through service, fellowship, and kindness. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and held memberships in Blue Lodge No. 197 in Carlisle and Lewistown Lodge No. 203. He was also a member of the Altoona Consistory Scottish Rite, Jaffa Shrine in Altoona, National Sojourners Chapter No. 76 in Harrisburg, VFW Post 5935 in Belleville, and American Legion Post 90 in Lewistown.
Tom will be remembered for his gentle spirit, warm smile, and genuine interest in others. He was a devoted family man who was always there when needed, a natural conversationalist who never met a stranger, and a friend to many. His outgoing nature, kindness, and ability to make everyone feel welcome left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service, including a Masonic Memorial Service, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Third St., Lewistown, with Rev. Karen McCachren officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Graveside services will follow at Juniata Memorial Park, where military honors will be accorded by the United States Army in recognition of Tom’s faithful service to his country.
