Larry S. Swineford, 71, of Belleville, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at his home.
Born on July 19, 1954 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Kenneth M. and Priscilla (Leiter) Swineford. He was raised by his late stepmother, Linda L. (Fleming) Swineford. On May 20, 1983, he married Leigh A. (Royer) Swineford, who survives at their home.
Along with his wife, he is survived by a son, Nathaniel M. Swineford of Belleville; siblings, David Swineford of Lewistown, Kenneth M. “Mike” Swineford and wife Cindy of Reedsville; his three nieces, that he adored, Riley, Avery and Sophie Shambach and a sister-in-law, Renee Shambach and husband Aaron of Linglestown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepsister, Cathy McNier and a sister-in-law, Tina Swineford.
Larry graduated in 1972 from Penn Highlands, Lewistown Campus. He was employed for 30 years at Mann Edge Tool Company until they closed. He then went back to school at Thompson Technical Institute, where he graduated with a 4.0 in medical billing and coding. He worked for 13 years for MPR in Boalsburg, until his retirement in 2019.
He served as an advisory member for Boy Scout Troop No. 6 in Burnham for a number of years. He also served as the score keeper for Babe Ruth Baseball from 2004 to 2007.
He enjoyed spending time with friends and family camping at “the Flats.” He was an avid history buff and loved Gettysburg where he and his son Nate attended the old-time baseball tournament every year. He loved his cats, Calvin and Hobbes.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, July 14 at 4 p.m. at “The Flats,” Swineford Lane, Lewistown, PA 17044.
