James W. Hannon

James W. Hannon, 90, of Belleville, passed away peacefully and entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center.

Born Jan. 15, 1936, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Wilbert Roy and Marion A. (Leightle) Hannon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob, Sam, and Paul Hannon, and his sisters, Kathleen Hesketh, Lueanna Austin, Marion Perry and Phyllis Aurand.

He is survived by his wife, Carol E. (Saylor) Hannon of 61 yrs; his sister, Eleanor Anderson and her husband, Dean. He will be remembered by his children, David J. Hannon and wife, Rebecca, Beth C. Walton, Stephen P. Hannon and wife, Laura, Benjamin R. Hannon; grandchildren, Eric Hannon, Hannah Krepps and husband, Destry, Melody Hannon, Richard Walton, Lydia Walton and wife, Dawn, Rose Herrick and husband, Charles, and Grace Hannon.

James was a 1955 graduate of Chief Logan Joint High School and a faithful member of Calvary Bible Church.

He worked at Lewistown Specialty Yarns and later became the owner and operator of Hannon’s Discount Grocery Store and Hannon’s Produce Wholesale, where he worked alongside his children.

James loved his Lord deeply and joyfully shared the gospel with others. He was an enthusiastic sports fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins, and Penn State football. He enjoyed tending to his honey bees and had a passion for preserving foodäoften found canning fruits, vegetables, and freezer jam. He also delighted in baking pies for family and friends.

A viewing will be held 11 a.m., on June 13, 2026 at Calvary Bible Church, with a funeral service to follow with Pastor Bob Marsh officiating.

Interment will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with family members and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in James’s memory may be made to Valley View Retirement Community Benevolent Fund.
