Forrest C. Erdley Jr.

Forrest C. Erdley Jr., 91, of Masonic Village, Elizabethtown (formerly of Huntingdon and Lewistown), passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Born Oct. 9, 1935, in Lewisburg, Pa., he was the son of the late F. Clay and Helen (Groover) Erdley. He was united in marriage to the former Helen “Jo” Graham on Oct. 12, 1958, in Kenton, OH. Mrs. Erdley preceded him in death on Dec. 8, 2023. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan E. Thomas, on April 3, 2016.

He is survived by a son and two daughters, Michael Erdley and wife, Stephanie, of Fayetteville, Teresa Lee and husband Jeffrey, of Elizabethtown, and Laura E. Rusk of Wormleysburg, a son-in-law, Mark Thomas, of Spring Grove; eight grandchildren, Rachelle Bethea and husband, William Jr., of Indianapolis, Jonathan Lee and wife, Lea, of Landisville, CPT Matthew Erdley and wife, Heidi, of Honolulu, Hi, Kristen Beiersdorf, of Jacksonville, NC, Tyler Lee and wife, Savannah, of Highspire, Ashleigh Schuster and husband, Joseph, of Harrisburg, David Erdley, of Arlington, VA, Emily Lewis and husband, Justin, of Fairless Hills; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Bedelyon, of Carthage, NC.

Mr. Erdley was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Huntingdon, and formerly of the Reedsville Evangelical Lutheran Church, Reedsville.

He was a life member of the Stroup-Alexander Post #5935, VFW, Belleville, as well as, the Loyal Order of Moose, where he was a member of the Elizabethtown Moose Lodge #596, the Keystone Moose Lodge #41 and the Abraham C. Treichler Lodge #682 F&AM. He was also a 65 year member of the Lewistown Lodge #203 F&AM. In addition, he held former memberships to the Lewistown Moose Lodge #143, the Belleville Lions Club, and had served as a volunteer at the Belleville Fire Company.

Mr. Erdley was a 1953 graduate of Mifflinburg High School, Mifflinburg, Pa.

He was employed as a full-time bookkeeper at Noerr’s Garage, Lewistown, retiring in 1998 after 21 years of service. After his retirement, Mr. Erdley continued to work there part-time until 2005.

Mr. Erdley enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954 and served in Germany, attaining the rank of Specialist Third Class. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and served one year in the U.S. Army Reserves.

He enjoyed bowling, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and his dog, Jazzee.

A memorial service will be held at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 6880 SR 655, Reedsville on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 10 a.m., with Pastor Tim Shafer officiating. Private interment will be at the Machpelah Cemetery, Belleville, PA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in remembrance of Forrest C. Erdley, Jr., may be made to St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 525 Mifflin Street, Huntingdon, PA 16652.
