Dorothy Y. ‘Dottie’ Sheaffer

Born June 4, 1928, in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of the late Harry J. and Rosie (Ebersole) Yorks.

She is survived by her son, Randy J. Sheaffer, Donna Arentz who was like a daughter to her, Andrew “A.J.” Singer whom she helped raise, one brother, Donald Yorks and wife, Audrey, and three sisters, Ruth Hall, Marjorie Hall, and Rosalie Miller.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Terry Lynn Sheaffer and Jack Yorks, and one brother, Robert Yorks.

Dottie graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1948 and worked at Empire Kosher, in local sewing factories, and did housecleaning, caregiving, and babysitting.

She attended Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church.

She loved to work in her flower beds and spend time with Randy, A.J., and Donna.

Her viewing will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third Street, Mifflintown, with her service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Amber Supplee officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Mifflintown.
